i feel like giving you an honest review full of helpful, constructive criticism. This was pretty good, but there's a lot of room for improvement.
The best parts, by a long way, were the slow shots of the environments/space, and the banter between the characters. Despite only adequate acting, they seemed pretty good together. The effects in the space scenes were actually pretty realistic, thoubh a bit TOO realistic in contrast with the fighting effects, which gives a jarring feeling like different parts were made in cmpletely different ways, it's inconsistent.
Unfortunately, some parts leave a lot to be desired. The combat for instance, seemed to be the worst parts of dbz and power rangers, melded together into a trite mess of transformations, powerup sequences, and overly elaborate energy attacks that noone thiks to interrupt, or avoid. it's pretty unconvincing as anything but a poorly choreographed fireworks show, although there's no doubt it will (and does) appeal to the young male teen audience that likes that sort of thing.
The character art was pretty neat, though simple at times. it appears to be done framebtyframe which is pretty good for a smooth animation effect, but it does cause a necessary drop in detail that contrasts oddly with the lush environments. A bit of extra thought on motion and anatomy would help you out too.
There's some problems with either AI or course design though. once on lv2, i got stuck trying to get over a pit several times. I eventually managed to get over it on my 4th try. but the AI didn't. All seven other players just kept falling into it repeatedly for the rest of the race, while i breezed through in 1st. it felt a bit lame.
The problem was that just before the pit there was a speed boost. Then a snmall jump onto a platform, and another, longer jump from there. The speed boost was causing people to go so fast that they cleared the platform completely, but fell in the gap between that and the other side as not even a double jump could get them so far. i managed to work around it by jumping over the speedboost.
OMG
WOW
they actually released that? Amazing. That's the first time i've seen that in a browser flash game, ever! This is going to change a lot of things. wow.
Congratulating adobe aside, this is a pretty darned impressive game. The physics is nice, as are the graphical effects, explosions, etc. It's a fucking technical marvel is what it is, the framerate being smooth despite the amount of stuff going on. I've seen plenty of far worse looking games, that also ran far worse. You've done well here, and that's to be congratulated.
I've only been playing 5 mins and i can already tell this is star quality.
amazing :O
i'll mention the few things that weren't awesome, since almost everything was
The physics engine is rather screwy. Especially when it comes to jumping around on slanted platforms. It needs a bit of work.
the lack of visual armour changing was a litle disappointing. though understandable given the effort it would have taken.
inability to do dialog stuff with the keyboard was kind of annoying.
The whole game ran a little slow. Not sure what you could do to fix that, but adding in the standard low/medium/high quality thing would go a long way, i think.
Combat does feel a bit sluggish at times, owing to the inability to move while attacking. done for balance im sure, but possibly look into allowing slower movement at least, would make it feel more dynamic.
Pretty darned excellent. You made a brilliant game, though not quite perfect. Great graphics, fun combat, goood sound design, decent voice acting, fun metagame. it's pretty brilliant.
The main downsides, things to improve for a possible sequel:
1. The english translation is quite bad. I'm guessing english isn't your first language. There are a lot of grammar mistakes and sentances that simply don't make sense. Strangely, the voice acting is significantly better in this regard. I'm guessing whoever did the voice acting is not the same person who wrote the script. Regardless, i'd say try getting a native speaker to help with that next time ^_^
2. The pacing. This game is at it's best during the frantic combat scenes. Protecting generators from hordes, or stopping zombies from reaching a certain point, were quite brilliant. Unfortunately too much of the game is "search" type missions where you have to wander blindly around the map, usually without any marker or indicator, while searching for things to recon, or capture. Or hunting down lone cowardly zombies.
These missions could really do with a minimap or a radar or something, to make the zombies easier to find. And the zombies ought to be more aggressive so they attack the player, rather than waiting for you to find them, and slaughter them easily since they're alone. Also on some missions, like the generator protecting ones, i felt it was stupid and annoying to have to hunt down the last remnants of the zombies at the end, every single time. If i've defended the generator successfully, that's it. mission over, i should win, move onto the next one. Don't make me go on a slow, boring zombie hunt after that exciting defense.
3. Balance. I felt that the game was, on the whole, a bit too easy, except at a few points. The weapons at your disposal make it effortless to dispatch hordes. the zombie dogs mix things up a bit, but they';re not enough. And the big boss creatures, although interesting, are too rare and really too easy (run backwards and shoot until they die). The game could really do with more types of enemies, more surprises to throw at you, to keep things interesting.
As i say though, there are a few points where it's not easy, and those points generally dont' feel fair. It's entirely due to the ranged zombies. With the ones that throw things, their projectiles are too hard to see, and therefore pretty much impossible to dodge. But worst of all is the zombies with guns. They fire too fast, and stunlock you. I can fight my way through all kinds of hordes, and then gete raped by one zombie with a shotgun, because it keeps knocking me down and i can't fight back. They really ought to fire slower, or less accurately or something.
I tried playing this on your sponsor/producer's, teagames. The version there is ATROCIOUS. Every time you die, it literally shuts down the game, to show an ad, then makes the game load back up again and makes you go back through all the menus just to continue where you left off. It reflects poorly on you and you ought to look into it.
the version on here is just great though. It does feel a bit unbalanced, since there's so many ways to deal damage, and to take it, health seems to be rather meaningless and you can die in half a second. basing score on health doesn't seem a good idea therefore, as the health is so modular. All you really have to do, if you survive long enough, is to keep the last enemy alive while you regen a bit and use your healing spells, for an easy perfect score. Most of the time i either get a perfect score or die horribly, it's too binary.

Thanks a lot for your suggestions! We'll try to avoid the problem in the next version.
